In these times of increasing competition and rising raw material and energy costs, efficient compound-feed production is of particular importance. One crucial element in the production process are well-qualified staff who have the necessary skills and knowledge to produce high-quality compound and mineral feeds or premixes in practical operations using the production equipment available. Major factors that affect the product properties of mash-type compound feeds are receiving inspections and particularly also the basic process operations size reduction, mixing and dosing; these process steps also have a lasting impact on the key product and process properties of pelleted compound feeds.
After this practical course, participants will be aware of the major parameters and thus be able to better control the basic steps in compound-feed production. In this context, fundamental measuring and testing methods to characterise the relevant material properties will also be taught.
To ensure better understanding, the theoretical knowledge is delivered in an accessible way and complemented by hands-on exercises. Participants are given handouts to ensure they can concentrate on listening.

Die Internationale Forschungsgemeinschaft Futtermitteltechnik e.V. (IFF) wurde am 13. Dezember 1961 von Firmen der Mischfutter- und der spezifischen Maschinenbauindustrie mit dem Ziel gegründet, die bei der Herstellung von Mischfutter auftretenden technologischen Fragen zu klären und industrienahe Forschung für kleine und mittelständische Unternehmen (KMU) über die Grenzen des Wettbewerbes einzelner Unternehmen hinaus zu organisieren und durchzuführen. Die IFF ist ein eingetragener Verein mit rund 110 nationalen und internationalen Mitgliedsunter-nehmen.
Die IFF unterhält in Braunschweig-Thune ein eigenes Forschungsinstitut. Das IFF-Forschungsinstitut ist das wissenschaftliche Zentrum der Mischfutterindustrie und deren Zulieferer und unterstützt die gesamte Branche durch Ergebnisse der Gemeinschafts- und Vertragsfor-schung sowie durch vielfältige Serviceleistungen und ein umfangreiches Angebot an Aus- und Fortbildungsveranstaltungen.
Die IFF ist Mitglied der Arbeitsgemeinschaft industrieller Forschungsvereinigungen "Otto von Guericke" e.V. (AiF) in Köln.

was founded on 13 December 1961 by companies of the feed industry and the specific machinery and plant industry in order to clarify any of the technological issues or problems encountered in industrial compound-feed production and to do research for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). The IFF is acknowledged as non-profit association with approx. 110 national and international members.
At Braunschweig-Thune, the IFF maintains a Research Institute of its own. The Research Institute of the IFF is the scientific centre of the feed industry and its suppliers and supports the whole feed industry by results of cooperative research projects and contract research as well as by manifold services and a large offer of training and upgrading courses.
The IFF is a member of the Working Pool of Industrial Research Associations (Arbeitsgemeinschaft industrieller Forschungsvereinigungen Otto von Guericke e.V., AiF) at Cologne, Germany.
